Golden sunrise
It was a golden sunrise. The wooden junks shone like gold when the first rays of the sun hit the boats and the water. One needs to see to believe that the wooden boats can turn shining golden.
Sunrise at Halong Bay
Goutam could not resist himself from jumping to an adjacent boat having a higher deck to take better photographs. After another delicious breakfast and hot coffee, it was time to move on. We went towards an island having a watch tower and a small beach. A climb to the top of the tower drifted us to a fairyland. It was foggy down below and the limestone islands appeared in the clouds of fog down below. Great!!

Hot Lemon Jiuce !!
Down at the beach, we ordered a drink to cool ourselves. I ordered some fresh lemon juice – but what is it that I get? Its hot!! And it does not taste like lemon. Well, the fruit looked like lemon, but it is not so. Goutam was bold enough to go to the girl managing the stall and ask for a refund. Remember, with our absolutely zero knowledge of Vietnamese, everything is happening by sign language and broken English.
Halong Bay from the View point
The outcome of this incident was hilarious. Ultimately Goutam failed in his mission and returned with a second glass of hot lemon juice after having paid for both.
It was time to start the return journey and bade goodbye to Halong Bay. We sat at the edge of the boat, our legs dangling outside and enjoying the surroundings for the final time.

Mood Spoiler
Suddenly we came across an area which was full of floating garbage. It seems that all the returning boats were dumping their garbage in the waters. A UNESCO heritage sight with so many international travelers and nobody to educate the junk owners and operators!! It was a mood spoiler.

Good Bye
Another hour by boat, and we reached the jetty. New batch of tourists had started arriving by then and they were boarding the junks for their tour. A bus was waiting for us and we were taken to a nearby restaurant. Lunch completed, we started for our journey back to Hanoi with some lifetime memories. Will we come back again? There is no answer at this moment.

    KP,
With Air-Asia flying from Kolkata, it has become cheap to connect to Vietnam. Just go there when you get the opportunity – and believe me, you will love it.
